Job summary

The Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority in Norfolk, VA is seeking a full-time Transportation Supervisor to manage van transportation for residents to designated locations, issue Handi-Ride tickets, and coordinate with NRHA staff and external agencies.

The role involves supervising staff, scheduling routes, maintaining mileage and passenger records, handling complaints, and ensuring safe vehicle maintenance. Requires 3–5 years of routing/scheduling experience and some college coursework.

Qualifications

• Completion of some college coursework is required; experience can be substituted for education.
• Three to five years of experience in organizing routes, scheduling and communicating with customers.
• Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervises subordinate staff to ensure effective operation of the transportation section.
• Schedules and coordinates van transport to hospitals, clinics, and social services.
• Issues and maintains Handi-Ride tickets for the TRT program.
• Responds to calls, prepares records, and trains/mentors staff.
• Ensures vehicle maintenance, safety, and route efficiency; may operate a van.
