Qualifications

• Virginia Driver's License required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Successful completion of auxiliary driver and bus attendant training (training provided).
• Excellent driving record (at least +3 driving points).
• Minimum age of 21 at time of employment.
• American Red Cross first aid and CPR or equivalent within first three months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operates a van to transport students safely to and from schools and activities.
• Drives routes and picks up/drops off students as scheduled.
• Performs pre-trip safety inspections to ensure safe operation of vehicle.
• Performs post-trip inspections and ensures all passengers are dropped off and belongings are secured.
• Supervises conduct of student passengers and contacts school officials as needed.
• Ensures vehicle is available for maintenance and inspections.
• Reports accidents immediately and completes required paperwork.
• Heavy lifting up to 50 pounds may be required in emergencies.
• Maintains Virginia driver's license and CPR certification.
• Follows Transportation Employee Handbook and School Board policies.
• Performs bus attendant duties as necessary.
• Other related duties as required.
