Job summary

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) Metro Transit Police Department offers a summer internship program for college and graduate students to gain hands-on experience in law enforcement and public safety across the Maryland, DC, and Virginia area.

Interns rotate through Bus/Rail Operations, Safety/Emergency Management, Engineering, Police, IT, City/Urban Planning, and general business functions, with supervision by an executive or designee.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; student must be enrolled in an accredited college/university.
• Must have completed freshman year and be entering sophomore year.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8.

Responsibilities

• Compile, review and analyze data to produce reports.
• Research data for management, operations, and administrative reports.
• Produce presentations, reports, and data graphics specific to the department.
• Attend training sessions and departmental meetings to gain exposure.
• Potentially lead departmental meetings or working sessions.
