Qualifications

  • City National Incident Management System Certification
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Class B Utah CDL with air brake and passenger endorsements
  • 4 years of supervisory experience in the transit industry
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Preferred: knowledge of automotive and diesel operations

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise and evaluate Transit Operators and Dispatchers and provide performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with city and departmental policies and SOPs.
  • Provide visibility and support for Operators and customers; identify and solve schedule and safety issues.
  • Develop partnerships across departments to foster a positive work environment.
  • Prepare run-bid materials and coordinate Change-Day activities.
  • Investigate complaints and document incidents using video management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with ADA, EEO, DBE, DOT, FMLA, and FTA regulations.
  • Oversee transit records, vehicle usage, fuel, inspections, scheduling, and passenger counts.
  • Be available as a first responder during major events and emergencies.

JOB SUMMARY

The Transit Shift Supervisor is responsible for supervising a team of Transit Operators and/or Transit Dispatchers, as well as assists the Transit Manager and Transit Service Quality and Compliance Manager with any projects related to the safe and efficient operation of the Transit System.

TYPICAL DUTIES
  • Directly supervises and evaluates performance of Transit Operators and Dispatchers. In coordination with Transit Leadership, delivers performance management to maximize job performance.
  • Ensures compliance with city and departmental policies and applicable SOP’s.
  • Provides visibility and support for Operators and customers through one-on-one interaction in the field while identifying system problems with schedules, assigned routes, detours, on-time reliability, and potential safety hazards, etc; recommends and implements solutions.
  • Develops partnerships with employees and other departments to create positive change and help establish an enjoyable and productive work environment.
  • Prepares all run-bid materials. Conducts run-bid process ensuring bids are timely, and accurate. Coordinates all Change-Day transitional activities and prepares all information necessary for dissemination to Operators.
  • Investigates and addresses complaints to ensure Park City Transit is meeting commitments made to our customers. Routinely utilizes video management system software to document incidents and submit reports and statements as necessary
  • Ensures compliance with all laws and regulations including ADA, EEO, DBE, DOT, FMLA, and FTA. Works to develop and implement policies and guidelines that achieve city needs and organizational goals while ensuring full compliance with all Civil Rights laws.
  • Oversee transit records, vehicle usage, fuel consumption, pre-trip inspections, scheduling and passenger counts, as well as overall system efficiencies. Prepares incident/accident reports as necessary.
  • Willingness and ability to function as a first responder in the event of a major disaster or event and maintain status on the emergency responders list.
  • Knowledge of American Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements in order to implement those requirements in the day-to-day operations through the delivery of transit service. and re-certifications to determine eligibility for Para transit service.
  • Participates in special assignments, as lead and potentially on department committees. These specialty assignments include, but are not limited to: Scheduler, KPI development/management, SOP management, Workforce Development, Compliance, Transit Housing, Customer Service Management, Route Adherence and Performance, Bus Stop Management, Vehicle Operations, or as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to obtain City National Incident Management System Certification.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class B, Utah Commercial Drivers License with air brake and passenger endorsements.
  • 4 years of supervisory experience in the transit industry.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in a related field.
  • Knowledge of automotive and diesel operations and maintenance procedures.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience, preferably in the transit industry.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is performed in an office setting and in the field. Field work may involve extended periods of time in a staff vehicle responding to concerns in the field in various climate conditions (snow, rain, heat, cold, wind etc.).
  • The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Considerable exposure to stressful situations.
  • Requires travel to and from meetings, trainings and conferences.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
  • Occasional non-traditional working hours which may include evening and weekend meetings.
