Job summary

WeGo Public Transit seeks a Transit Planning specialist to assist with service planning, schedule development, and data-driven improvements for MTA/RTA operations. This role supports bid processes, ensures accurate run guides, and coordinates across departments to maintain service quality.

The candidate will analyze ridership data, train data collection staff, and contribute to new service development, while working under defined schedules and event-driven demands.

Qualifications

• At least three years' experience in transit operations, planning, or scheduling/logistics management.
• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, urban planning, operations management, transportation or related field.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes data to recommend and implement routing and scheduling changes.
• Assists with schedule development and validates data for route, stops, and information distribution.
• Produces and ensures accuracy of driver run guides, postings, and headways.
• Prepares materials for biannual operator bids and vacations.
• Coordinates with Operations for service implementation and monitoring.
• Maintains communication across departments regarding schedule adjustments and requirements.
• Evaluates ridership data from APC software and related tools.
• Supervises and trains part-time data collection staff and contractors.
• Assists with service analysis, route analysis, and new service development.
