Job summary

County of Davidson is seeking a Route Driver to operate a Light Transit Vehicle, shuttling passengers on deviated fixed or demand-response routes across Davidson County. You will assist riders boarding/alighting and perform minor preventive maintenance while adhering to safety rules.

Requirements include a high school diploma, valid NC CDL with passenger endorsement within 60 days, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse riders. Training and periodic safety courses are provided.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Some experience operating a passenger vehicle.
• Must possess a valid North Carolina Commercial Driver License (CDL).
• Passenger endorsement must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to assist passengers with special needs and read maps.

Responsibilities

• Operate a 15-24 passenger Light Transit Vehicle on routed trips.
• Assist passengers including elderly and disabled; operate wheelchair lift.
• Ensure safety rules and complete logs and maintenance reporting.
• Attend safety trainings and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
