Job summary

Valley Metro is seeking a Risk Management Specialist to join our Legal Operations team in Phoenix. The role reports to the Chief Legal Officer and supports the claims and risk management program, including insurance coordination, workers’ compensation, and data-driven risk analysis.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 4 years of claims management experience, with 2+ years in organizational risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
• 4+ years of progressive claims management experience (inception, processing, closure or settlement).
• 2+ years in organizational risk management including workers’ compensation, tort, and insurance programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist risk management program including insurance, self-insurance, workers’ compensation, and claims administration activities.
• Coordinate with external brokers for insurance program renewals and coverage analyses.
• Review, investigate, process, and coordinate liability, property, automobile, restitution, and subrogation claims and analyze loss data for reporting.
• Support assigned program budget by monitoring expenditures and preparing financial data and reports.
• Provide guidance on risk requirements across departments and ensure alignment with agency standards.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, training sessions, and documentation related to risk, claims, and insurance processes.
• Prepare and present reports and analyses on program activities for leadership.
