Job summary

MBTA is seeking a Senior Director of Real Estate Asset Management to oversee MBTA’s leased property portfolio and ensure property strategies align with operational needs and capital planning. You will coordinate with master tenants and MBTA Capital Delivery, Facilities, Finance, and Real Estate teams to maintain facilities at MBTA standards.

The role drives opportunities to strengthen the real estate portfolio through acquisitions, dispositions, and asset improvements, supporting TOD initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in real estate, urban planning, economics, business, architecture or related field.
• Ten years of experience in real estate asset or portfolio management.
• Experience with lease administration, capital planning, and facilities management coordination.
• Seven years of supervisory/leadership experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison for planning, development, and implementation of third-party leased facilities and projects.
• Manage all third-party leased and managed MBTA assets, including facilities management and compliance.
• Identify lease and capital needs across master-leased properties and develop improvement recommendations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure efficient use of assets and maintain facilities in good repair.
• Lead scoping and feasibility analyses for near- and long-term facility needs.
• Oversee maintenance budgets and long-term capital planning for leased properties.
• Prepare surveys, site identifications, design reviews, and responses to RFIs/RFPs.
• Identify and evaluate property or facility alternatives to support MBTA operations.
• Provide guidance on reliability, modernization, and expansion initiatives for facilities.
• Lead cross-departmental coordination and communicate project priorities to executives.
• Provide strategic recommendations on asset optimization and redevelopment opportunities.
• Contribute to long-range real estate strategic planning and asset utilization.
