Job summary

John Burns in Chicago is seeking a Project Manager to ensure coordinated communication across departments and supervise junior PMs, engineers, and subcontractors on transit projects.

You will manage documentation, submittals, cost tracking, scheduling updates, safety, and team relationships while driving on-time delivery and budget control through proactive leadership and collaboration.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of PM experience required.
• 3 years of experience on transit projects/jobs.
• Ability to read prints and produce accurate take-offs.
• Ability to source and learn labor units for assigned work.
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PPT, P6 and HCSS.

Responsibilities

• Project Documentation – detail, measure and document per project requirements.
• Submittals/Material Management – log and track submittals; push for approvals.
• Relationship management – maintain positive relationships with customer, engineers, foreman, subs and suppliers.
• Financial – track cost vs. budget; forecast status; invoice for work completed.
• Plan/Specifications – ensure team has the latest documents and understands them.
• Project Labor Units – track estimated labor units.
• Schedule – develop and update baseline, two week, one week and daily schedules; report progress.
• Safety – ensure Job Hazard Analysis is completed and site is safe to excavate.
