Job summary

Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) in Columbus, OH seeks a Project Engineer to oversee large FTA-funded capital projects ranging from $25M to $500M. The role ensures compliance with grant requirements, federal regulations, and state/local standards while advancing COTA's strategic goals and safety culture.

The successful candidate will provide engineering oversight through all project phases, coordinate with contractors and consultants, and ensure timely, within-budget project delivery

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Five (5) years' experience as a Professional Engineer
• Possession of a valid State of Ohio PE certificate is required
• Valid driver's license required

Responsibilities

• Serves as Project Engineer for FTA-funded transit capital projects across facilities, maintenance facilities, stations, guideways, systems infrastructure and related assets.
• Provides engineering oversight across the full project lifecycle: planning, environmental clearance, preliminary engineering, final design, procurement, construction administration, testing, commissioning and closeout.
• Ensures project delivery within scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, compliance, and long-term asset performance requirements.
• Coordinates with procurement activities: scopes of work, technical specs, cost estimates, evaluations, consultant selection and contract negotiations.
• Provides engineering leadership as owner's representative with consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders on complex multi-disciplinary capital projects.
