Job summary

COTA’s Project Engineer leads and coordinates large federal transit capital projects funded by the Federal Transit Administration, overseeing planning, design, construction, and closeout.

The role ensures compliance with grant requirements, federal regulations, and state/local standards while directing complex engineering activities and ensuring successful project delivery within multi-year programs.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Five years' experience as a Professional Engineer responsible for major engineering or capital infrastructure project delivery.
• Valid Ohio PE license required.

Responsibilities

• Project Engineer for FTA-funded capital projects.
• Provide engineering oversight across the full project lifecycle.
• Ensure delivery within approved scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, compliance, and long-term asset performance.
• Support procurement and pre-award contracting activities.
• Provide technical leadership for consultants, contractors, and multi-disciplina ry project teams.
• Ensure engineering decisions align with regulatory and agency requirements.
