Job summary

MBTA is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the Project Manager, Resident Engineer and Project Office in design and construction phases. The role involves tracking professional services and construction contracts using the MBTA PMIS (e-Builder) and ensuring safety, cost, and schedule targets are met.

The candidate will report to the Capital Programs Director/Sr. Director and work closely with QA/QC, Project Controls, and other departments to drive program delivery across multiple

Qualifications

• Master’s degree may substitute for two years of general experience.
• A nationally recognized certification may substitute for one year of experience.
• Engineer-in-training certificate may fulfill some requirements for entry.
• License to practice as a Professional Engineer or Architect in MA may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing consultant and construction contracts to meet project requirements, safety, cost, and schedule.
• Act in place of the project manager as assigned by leadership.
• Coordinate with MBTA Manuals and directives for project delivery.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules under supervision.
• Coordinate with municipal officials, the public, and other stakeholders.
• Procure consultants and contractors.
• Review monthly payments and schedule submissions.
• Support design group meetings, value engineering, constructability reviews, and risk workshops.

Education

Master’s degree (related subject)

Engineer-in-training certificate

License to practice as PE/Architect in MA

Experience in transit infrastructure construction
