Job summary

WMATA in Reston, Virginia is seeking a Summer College Intern in the Office of Strategy and Policy to support strategy development and policy analysis. This preparatory, hands-on program offers exposure to transit projects and opportunities to work with senior leaders across departments.

The internship runs up to thirteen weeks and emphasizes data gathering, reporting, and communication. Ideal candidates are enrolled in college, have a minimum GPA, and are eager to contribute to public service

Qualifications

Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in a discipline relevant to the position.
Must have completed freshman year and be entering sophomore year of college.
Intern must maintain a minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA.
Summer internship is up to thirteen weeks and offers hands-on experience.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are expected.

Responsibilities

Compiles, reviews, and analyzes data; verifies input and produces reports.
Assists in preparation of management, operations, technical and administrative reports.
Produces presentations, reports, and data visuals for assigned department.
Attends trainings and departmental meetings to gain exposure to transit functions.
Participates in and/or leads departmental meetings and working sessions.
