Job summary

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is offering a Summer College Intern position in the Office of Strategy and Policy. This preparatory role provides hands-on transit industry experience across multiple departments, with supervision by a designated executive.

Interns may rotate to departments based on their major, for up to thirteen weeks of summer employment. Strong written and oral communication and collaboration are valued as you contribute to priority projects for riders

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and college enrollment in a relevant field.
• Pursuing a degree aligned with internship responsibilities.
• Must have completed freshman year and be entering sophomore year.
• Minimum 2.8 GPA required.
• Favorable performance evaluation for prior summer for continuation.

Responsibilities

• Compile, review, and analyze data; use a PC to verify, input, and correct data for reports.
• Research data and assist in preparing management/operations reports; use various reports to complete assignments.
• Produce work products such as presentations, reports, and data visuals for the assigned department.
• Review reports to identify problems and propose solutions under guidance.
• Participate in training sessions and attend relevant meetings to gain exposure to transit functions.
• Participate in and/or lead departmental meetings and working sessions.
