Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee seeks an Outreach Specialist for Transit Homeless Outreach. This full‑time, field‑based role operates 37.5 hours weekly to meet New Yorkers in transit spaces and guide them toward housing and stability.

You'll engage with individuals experiencing homelessness, provide hands-on support, and coordinate connections to housing, medical and behavioral health services. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal abilities.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel across boroughs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct street-based outreach in transit locations with compassion.
• Connect clients to housing, medical, mental health, and substance use services.
• Complete brief assessments, provide escorts, and make referrals.
• Document outreach activity and client interactions in records.
• Work primarily at high-need areas including end‑of‑line stations.
• Collaborate with partner agencies and outreach teams.
