Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee is seeking an Outreach Specialist for its Transit Homeless Outreach team in New York. This full-time, field-based role involves meeting unhoused New Yorkers in transit locations, facilitating connections to housing and support services, and navigating them toward stability.

You will engage with individuals experiencing chronic homelessness, perform brief assessments, provide escorts, and collaborate with partner agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to document interactions accurately.
• Willingness to travel across boroughs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct compassionate, street-based outreach in transit locations.
• Connect clients to housing, medical, mental health, and substance use services.
• Complete brief assessments, provide escorts, and make referrals.
• Document outreach activity and client interactions.
• Collaborate with partner agencies and outreach teams.
