Job summary

Join BRC's Transit Homeless Outreach program in New York City. This full-time role supports outreach operations, supervises staff on shift, and coordinates onboarding and training. You will work with MTAPD or NYPD and ensure data entry accuracy while helping homeless individuals access housing and essential services.

We seek candidates with 2+ years of direct outreach, a valid driver's license, and basic computer literacy. CPR training or willingness, and vaccination are valued.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of direct outreach experience required.
• Associate's Degree with 1 year of direct outreach experience considered.
• Bachelor's Degree with at least 6 months of direct outreach experience considered.
• Valid driver’s license strongly preferred.
• Basic computer literacy required.
• Ability to speak Spanish desirable.
• CPR training certification or willingness to take CPR.
• Vaccination preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Outreach to homeless within the NYC Subway system, including end-of-line stations, with partners.
• Accompany and supervise outreach staff on shift, providing real-time feedback and coordination with partners and city agencies.
• Coordinate onboarding for new staff, trainings, and data entry in internal systems.
• Lead trainings for existing staff on client engagement and recognizing mental illness.
• Ensure team and client safety, conduct assessments, and offer referrals to homeless individuals.
• Maintain knowledge of homeless services and signs of mental illness/substance abuse.
• Record data on all approached individuals and case records.
• Consult with supervisors to coordinate services.
• Provide emergency first aid/CPR or overdose prevention protocol assistance.
• Related duties as assigned.
