Job summary

brc is seeking an Outreach Specialist for the Transit Homeless Outreach program in New York City. This field-based role involves engaging individuals experiencing homelessness, providing hands-on support, and guiding them toward housing and stability.

The position emphasizes compassion, collaboration with partners, and living in high-need transit areas. Ideal candidates have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, strong communication and documentation skills, and a valid driver's license

• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills needed.
• Able to build trust and work effectively in the field.

Responsibilities

• Conduct street-based outreach in transit locations.
• Connect clients to housing, medical, mental health, and substance use services.
• Complete brief assessments, provide escorts, and make referrals.
• Document outreach activity and client interactions.
• Work primarily in high-need areas, including end-of-line stations.
• Collaborate with partner agencies and outreach teams.
