Job summary

The City of Galveston is seeking a Transit Operator to safely operate buses and vans on fixed routes and shuttles, collect fares, and provide information to riders. Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; AND one year of experience operating passenger buses and vans; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid Texas Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Drives buses and vans to pick up passengers; collects fares; issues transfers; adjusts routes as needed for passenger needs.
• Inspects vehicles before and after routes; reports mechanical issues; ensures passengers are properly seated.
• Prepares activity reports; reports service interruptions, weather issues, or emergencies.
• May perform dispatch duties and provide information on schedules and times.
• May supervise or train less-experienced drivers and interact with the public in a courteous manner.
