Job summary

City of South Padre Island seeks a Vehicle Operator to transport the public using buses, following routes and schedules with safety and courtesy. You will perform pre/post trip checks, document passenger counts, and assist the Transit Department in upholding policies.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma, two years of related experience, a CDL A/B with passenger endorsement, a Defensive Driving Certificate in the last year, and a valid USDOT medical certificate in the last 24

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of related work experience or equivalent combination.
• CDL A or B with passenger endorsement; defensive driving cert within 12 months.
• USDOT medical certificate within 24 months.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy machinery while transporting the public in a safe, timely manner.
• Conducts pre and post trip inspections and reports deficiencies.
• Greets and assists the public; responds to inquiries and refers when needed.
• Keeps City vehicles clean and maintains the storage area.
• Prepares daily paperwork for passenger counts and discrepancies.
• Provides information to help locate services and establishments.
