Job summary

The City of Gainesville is seeking a qualified manager to directly supervise Transit/Paratransit Operators for the Regional Transit System (RTS). The role coordinates all transit operations under established rules and the Union contract, exercising independent judgement during emergencies and field issues.

Requires a CDL with passenger endorsement and a strong background in transportation operations, safety practices, and customer information.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
• Two years college level work in business administration, urban transportation, planning, or related subject preferred.
• Two years mass transportation experience, supervisory experience preferred.
• CDL class A or B with passenger endorsement is required at time of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, assign, and review the work of Transit/Paratransit Operators.
• Provide information to the public on routes, schedules, fares, and services.
• Maintain route maps and schedules; estimate distances and arrival times.
• Coordinate field operations during emergencies and special events.
• Supervise operator performance and safety; train new staff.
