Job summary

SouthWest Transit in Minnesota is seeking an experienced Transit Operations Manager to lead daily transit operations, optimize fleet uptime, and oversee dispatch workflows. You will guide long-range planning, manage driver contracts, and develop service routes to meet community needs.

The role emphasizes building efficient teams, analyzing performance metrics, and collaborating with internal and external partners to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective transit solutions in the SouthWest

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban planning, public administration, or related field.
• 5-7 years in public transportation with at least 3 years leading teams.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor teams.
• Strong proficiency in scheduling, routing, and mapping software.
• Experience with transit scheduling/run-cutting software, micro-transit operations, analytics & reporting, GIS, and contract management.
• Understanding of GTFS and transit data standards, funding and grants.
• Preferred: experience with FTA regulations.
• Role is 100% in office.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of dispatch, customer experience, and transit ops staff to ensure continuous communication and smooth daily operations.
• Manage daily transit operations ensuring system-wide adherence to KPIs.
• Lead Transit Planner in designing, analyzing, and optimizing routes, timetables, and service schedules.
• Analyze ridership trends and data to improve efficiency and rider experience.
• Prepare operational reports, service metrics, and grant proposals.
• Collaborate with internal departments, vendors, and external stakeholders to improve services and implement new technologies.
