Job summary

TRANSIT MANAGEMENT OF CHARLOTTE INC is seeking a Maintenance Fleet Supervisor to oversee Mechanical Diesel Technicians and the maintenance, repair, and servicing of mass transit vehicles on an assigned shift. The role ensures safe, timely, and cost-effective maintenance and reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Responsibilities include supervising technicians, scheduling work, inspecting progress, teaching safe tool use, and coordinating with the Transportation Department to ensure vehicle

Qualifications

• Knowledge of repair, overhaul and servicing of heavy-duty transit vehicles.
• Knowledge in electronic engine/transmission diagnosis and repairs.
• Knowledge of supervisory methods and procedures.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Must pass pre-employment screenings such as DOT physical examination and drug test.
• Must maintain a current North Carolina CDL, Class B with “Passenger” and “Air Brake” endorsements.
• Willing to work days, nights, weekends, holidays; shift may vary.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Mechanics and Diesel Technicians on assigned shift.
• Schedule and assign work and manage shift coverage.
• Inspect and supervise ongoing repairs to ensure safety and standards.
• Instruct proper use of tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Coordinate with Transportation and Dispatch on vehicle availability.
• Provide feedback, counseling, and enforce agency policies.
