Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks a Transportation Technician I to perform routine preventive maintenance on buses and related equipment. The role includes fueling, tire upkeep, and light repairs, under supervision, ensuring a safe and economical fleet for daily operations.

The position requires at least one year of automotive experience and a valid CDL Class B with endorsements or the ability to obtain within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in automotive setting required.
• CDL Class B with P & N endorsements or ability to attain within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on vehicular equipment including lubrication, oil changes, brake repairs, tire replacement, wheel balancing, and electrical components.
• Fuel buses and maintain tire condition; keep district vehicles fueled and ready for service.
• Assist with scheduled vehicle inspections and required paperwork; maintain records per state guidelines.
• Drive transportation service trucks to pick up and deliver parts; load and unload tires for inventory.
