Job summary

RL Controls is hiring a Field Service Technician in the United States to perform installations and testing for vehicle systems, including software/hardware upgrades and network components. The role requires hands-on work, wire termination, conduit tasks, and the ability to travel nationally.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of field service experience in mass transit, a technical degree (preferred), and strong skills with tools, schematics, and high-voltage safety.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of field service experience in the mass transit industry.
  • Technical degree preferred; industry certifications are a plus.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and apply technical documentation, specifications, and schematics.
  • Competence with hand and power tools, including calibrated tools and multimeters.
  • Proficiency in wire termination, cabling, conduit work, and working around AC and DC high-voltage systems.
  • Problem-solving, adaptability, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication skills for reports and following instructions.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights up to 25 feet, and operate in confined spaces.
  • Willingness to travel nationally with a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Completing hands-on installations, upgrades, and disassembly of vehicle systems.
  • Performing system testing, integration, and troubleshooting as part of a project team.
  • Conducting site surveys and attending site-specific meetings.
  • Installing and commissioning wired and wireless low-voltage network solutions.
  • Validating network functionality and documenting results.
  • Adhering to OSHA, FRA, and RL Controls safety and PPE standards.
