Job summary

The Broward County Government Transportation Department seeks an Engineering Unit Supervisor to lead transit capital project design, review, and coordination for BRT, LRT, and rail facilities.

You will supervise engineers and consultants, develop design criteria and procedures, oversee environmental review and permitting, and coordinate with agencies, utilities, MPOs, and communities to deliver high‑quality infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Six years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience in transit or transportation.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• Professional Engineer license in Florida for duration of assignment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and update of transit engineering design criteria and technical requirements.
• Supervise engineering unit responsible for transit capital project development.
• Coordinate with internal departments, railroads, utilities, MPOs and stakeholders.
• Oversee plans, reports, cost estimates, and constructability analyses to meet regulations.
• Guide the use of CAD and modeling tools in design work.
• Support NEPA and environmental permitting tasks.
