Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Transit Engineer in the Atlanta area to lead transit infrastructure design from corridor improvements to stations and support facilities. You will guide junior staff, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure buildable designs that meet regulatory standards.

Ideal candidates have strong PS&E experience, advanced Civil 3D skills, and a solid understanding of transit operations, accessibility, and urban right-of-way constraints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering.
• PE license is required or pursued.
• 7 years of related experience in transit/rail/road projects.
• Willingness to travel domestically/internationally as needed.
• Equivalent additional related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver transit infrastructure designs for moderate to high complexity projects including corridors, stations, and facilities.
• Produce and review PS&E and construction drawing packages with accuracy and compliance.
• Review designs for compliance with federal, state, local and agency requirements and seal plans as needed.
• Conduct site reviews and field investigations to verify assumptions and update requirements.
• Support design development, QA/QC, and agency review cycles.
• Coordinate with planners, architects, utilities, operations staff, and clients.
• Mentor junior engineers and oversee project work.
• Assist in proposal development and client presentations.
