Job summary

BART is seeking a Junior Engineer to support planning, design, analysis, implementation, and maintenance of engineering projects that enhance safety, reliability, and modernization of the BART system.

Under guidance of experienced engineers, you will apply engineering principles to real-world transit projects, prepare reports, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the District. This is an entry-level, growth-focused role in the Bay Area.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Substitution allows experience in lieu of education on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.

Responsibilities

Performs entry level professional engineering duties including specifications, analyses, and cost estimates.
Conducts field inspections and investigations.
Creates details addressing design challenges for projects.
Assists in designing hardware/software modifications and testing equipment.
Prepares engineering designs, cost estimates and quantity estimates for projects.
Analyzes and resolves computer systems malfunctions.
Supports train control scheduling and methods.
