Qualifications

• Entry-level professional engineering duties including engineering specifications, computer systems applications, preliminary cost estimates, drawings, calculations and analyses.

• Ability to prepare engineering designs, costs and quantity estimates for projects.
• Familiarity with BFS specifications as baseline and ability to modify as needed.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of entry level professional engineering duties including engineering specifications, computer systems applications, preliminary cost estimates, engineering drawings, calculations and analyses.
• Conducts field inspections and investigations.
• Creates customized details addressing design challenges for each project.
• Assists in designing computer hardware and software modifications.
• Assists in designing and specifying special testing and service equipment for transit vehicles.
• Modifies and compiles specifications for projects using BFS as baseline.
• Assists in preparing designs, specification costs and quantity estimates for construction projects.
• Analyzes and resolves computer systems malfunctions.
• Assists in establishing schedules and methods for train control support positions.
• Conducts special studies and prepares reports and correspondence.

Note: The starting negotiable annual salary offer will be between $107,145.00 - $117,711.57, commensurate with education and experience.

The San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) is seeking a motivated and innovative Junior Engineer to support the planning, design, analysis, implementation, and maintenance of engineering projects that contribute to the safety, reliability, and modernization of the BART system. Under the guidance of experienced engineers and managers, Junior Engineers will have the opportunity to apply engineering principles to real-world transit projects, conduct technical analyses and investigations, prepare engineering documents and reports, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the District.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university.

Substitution

Professional experience as outlined above may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis. A college degree is preferred.
