Job summary

BART is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to support its comprehensive safety and compliance programs across regulatory topics. This role includes investigations, reporting, training, and inspections to strengthen safety culture.

Under supervision, you will analyze trends, prepare detailed reports, and ensure OSHA-compliant training, coordinating with departments and regulatory agencies to maintain program readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, industrial engineering, industrial hygiene, or a closely related field.
• Two years of professional occupational health or safety experience.
• Must possess a valid California driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.
• Must be able to read and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor occupational health and safety program activities including facility inspections, accident investigations and emergency planning operations; monitors program compliance with mandated laws, rules and regulations.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, documents findings, prepares reports.
• Conduct inspections of District facilities and worksites for safety and environmental compliance.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs and materials; coordinate with regulatory agencies as needed.
