Job summary

Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking a Section Chief for the Bureau of Transit Capital - Southern region. The role oversees honor of grant funding, project management, and coordination with transit providers.

You will lead a team, ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines, and drive capital project delivery in southern Illinois. The position demands a bachelor’s degree and several years of transit program experience, with strong leadership and stakeholder communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, business management, finance, project management, or public administration plus 3 years’ experience in transit/project management, grant management, procurement, monitoring budgets, or a combination thereof.
• Eleven years of experience in transit project and program management, grant management, procurement, monitoring projects for scope and budget is also acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Liaise between the Office of Intermodal Project Implementation and transit providers and funding partners on grant matters.
• Review and approve grant applications in line with federal and department policies; coordinate funding and scope with partners.
• Identify programs and capital transit projects for inclusion in the annual transit program based on priorities.
• Evaluate and approve (where justified) public transportation capital grant funding and payments.
• Ensure onsite inspection of project facilities and compliance with safety and program requirements.
• Develop staff priorities and manage timely delivery of tasks within the Bureau of Transit Capital.
