Job summary

The DGS Office of External Affairs seeks a Transit Capital Project Manager to oversee state and federally funded public transportation grants in the Chicago area. You will review applications, manage procurements, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with federal and state rules, while maintaining grant systems.

Collaborating with the Section Chief, you will handle day-to-day grant activities and provide technical guidance to grant recipients across various programs, with occasional statewide

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, management, statistics, or public administration; OR two years of college plus two years of related experience in transportation/gran
• Experience managing transit or transportation capital grant projects funded through federal and/or state programs
• Knowledge of Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), and applicable federal and state regulations
• Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously
• Experience with project management, grant management, or financial management systems
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel statewide occasionally

Responsibilities

• This position manages state and federally funded public transportation capital improvement and operating grants in the Chicago Metropolitan area.
• The Transit Capital Project Manager reviews grant applications, oversees procurement activities, monitors project implementation, ensures compliance with federal and state requirements, and maintains grant management systems.
• The role supports the Section Chief in managing day-to-day grant activities and provides technical assistance to grant recipients.
