Job summary

The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County is seeking a Transit Bus Repair “A” in Houston to diagnose and repair heavy‑duty revenue fleet. You will perform PMI inspections, troubleshoot major components, and repair engines, brakes, and hybrid propulsion systems using laptops, test tools, and HVAC software.

Four years of mechanical repair on heavy equipment or five years on automotive/light duty gear are required, along with a Texas CDL- P endorsement and strong reporting skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical school preferred.
• Four years mechanical repair on heavy duty equipment or five years on automotive/light duty.
• Valid Texas DL with 'P' endorsement; able to meet MetrO/METRO MVR requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret gauges; operate test equipment; complete reports.

Responsibilities

• Performs PMI on revenue fleet and inspects/diagnoses defects.
• Diagnose and repair air brake, suspension, steering, and alignment systems.
• Use laptop, HVAC software, and test instruments to troubleshoot.
• Service multiplex systems and exhaust after-treatment; hybrid propulsion support.
• Road test vehicles and complete reports in timely, accurate fashion.
• Provide excellent customer service and promote safety procedures.
