Job summary

City Utilities of Springfield is seeking a Bus Operator to transport passengers on designated routes in Missouri. You will ensure safety checks, adhere to schedules, and assist disabled passengers, including operating Access Express equipment.

The role requires CDL and relevant training, with duties extending to fare collection, reporting, and safety compliance. The position supports daytime and nighttime shifts, with potential for overtime and weekend work, reflecting the utility's commitment

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent is required.
• Special training in operating diesel-powered transit buses or heavy-duty trucks is preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience driving large vehicles is required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts bus safety checks at the start of and during the shift; reports major mechanical problems.
• Complies with local, state, and federal laws; reports delays, detours, and injuries ASAP.
• Operates the bus safely to provide a smooth, comfortable trip; controls heating, A/C, lighting, and ventilation.
• Answers inquiries about schedules, routes, and transfer points; maintains order; assists disabled passengers; obeys ADA rules.
• Collects fares and prepares run reports; forwards accident/incident reports to the Bus Supervisor; files police reports as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Diesel-powered transit bus/heavy-duty truck operation training

1 year experience driving large vehicles
