Job summary

City Utilities of Springfield is seeking a Bus Operator to transport passengers on fixed routes and operate Access Express for disabled riders in the Springfield, Missouri area.

Under the supervision of the Supervisor-Bus Services, you will perform safety checks, maintain schedules, assist disabled passengers, collect fares, and prepare reports. CDL/air brakes endorsements and DOT compliance are required; uniform clothing is provided.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Special training in the operation of diesel-powered transit bus or heavy-duty trucks is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts bus safety checks at the beginning of and during the shift.
• Complies with all laws relating to bus operation; reports delays, detours, accidents or injuries.
• Operates bus safely to provide a smooth, comfortable trip and manages climate controls for passenger comfort.
• Answers inquiries on schedules, routes, transfer points, and locations; maintains order on the bus; assists disabled passengers via Access Express and fixed routes.
• Collects fares and prepares run reports; files accident/incident and delay reports; forwards to Bus Supervisor.
