Job summary

City of Grand Forks (ND) is hiring City Bus Operators to transport riders along assigned routes while maintaining safety and timeliness. CDL with passenger endorsement is required; the City offers a CDL training program and a bonus up to $2,000.

Non-CDL hires start at $20.35/hour until CDL is obtained. Join a dedicated team responsible for safe passenger service, on-time performance, and routine vehicle checks.

Qualifications

• Two years of increasingly responsible experience operating a public transit bus.
• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain within 60 days, a valid commercial driver’s license with passenger and air brake endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Transport passengers from one place to another safely in a designated transit vehicle.
• Provide excellent customer service by informing passengers about maps, schedules, routes, transfer points, and changes.
• Operate bus on assigned routes and announce stops according to schedule.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and report any issues to ensure safe operation.
• Drive through traffic while obeying all traffic laws and monitor passengers and pedestrians.
• Perform fare collection and daily reporting of distance traveled.
• Report accidents or other disruptions to dispatcher and follow directions for detours.
• Assist passengers with mobility devices as needed.
