Job summary

St. John’s Community Health in Los Angeles, CA, seeks an Outreach Coordinator to promote HIV prevention services for transgender individuals and engage community partners in South L.A.

You will develop relationships with transgender service providers and conduct outreach and in-reach activities, supporting program goals. The role requires 2+ years in transgender-focused outreach, a high school diploma (bachelor’s preferred), and HIV counseling certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience with transgender individuals in social services or health settings.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; High School diploma or equivalent required.
• HIV Testing Counselor Certification.
• Ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Strong facilitation and written/verbal communication skills.
• Transgender-affirming and knowledgeable about the population of focus.
• Comfort with outreach and program coordination activities.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Reach target population via telephone, mail, community visits, and virtual engagement.
• Maintain knowledge of HIV, PrEP, and PEP; stay updated on protocols.
• Deliver education through street outreach, health fairs, and community events.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and allied organizations.
• Attend meetings and communicate with the program team and supervisor.
• Assist in weekly/monthly/quarterly data reports and program evaluations.
• Create outreach materials and maintain program files and records.
• Travel between Los Angeles, and surrounding counties as needed.
