Job summary

HSHS is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist (MLT/MLS) for Transfusion Services at Springfield, IL. The role entails performing comprehensive testing on blood and body samples, using analyzers, microscopes and computer systems to ensure accurate results daily.

The position is full-time, 40 hours weekly, with a 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM schedule, Monday through Friday, with every other weekend. Education and certification requirements include NAACLS/ASCP eligibility and timely

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with courses in biological science, chemistry and mathematics.
• Experience in an NAACLS-accredited MLS/MT program or ASCP certification with 2 years lab experience.
• Certification must be received within 180 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a variety of tests on patient samples (blood, body fluids, cells, tissues).
• Use biomedical instrumentation, microscopes, and computers to study samples.
• Provide data to physicians for diagnosis and treatment.
