Job summary

GE Vernova in the United States is seeking a senior lab engineer to lead testing and calibration of instrument transformers, ensure safety compliance, and manage lab operations. You will mentor technicians, drive quality metrics, coordinate with Sales, Project Management, and R&D on custom tests and new products, and handle Factory Acceptance Testing inquiries.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and at least five years in transformer testing, ISO9001 calibration experience,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5 years progressive experience in transformer design/manufacturing or electrical testing in a lab.
• 5 years ISO9001 calibration program experience.
• 2 years interpreting high-voltage insulation resistance, ratio, and dissipation factor tests.
• 2 years using LIMS or SAP QM to manage test data.
• Experience with Omicron, Megger, or Tettex test systems.
• Ability to standardize test processes and reduce variation.

Responsibilities

• Lead lab safety initiatives and ensure adherence to safety standards.
• Train technicians and perform performance reviews.
• Oversee testing of customer units for IEEE/IEC compliance.
• Ensure test results are accurate, documented, and traceable.
• Serve as lead technical resource, and interpret complex procedures.
• Supervise daily lab operations, scheduling, payroll, and training plans.
• Monitor performance metrics for quality and efficiency improvements.
• Be primary contact for FAT, inquiries, and lab tours.
• Collaborate with Sales, PM, and R&D on custom testing and new products.
• Support quality teams with calibration and troubleshooting.
