Job summary

Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA, is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist for our Secondary Program to assess, plan, and deliver speech and language therapy services for students with visual impairments and other medically complex disabilities.

You will provide direct therapy, consult with the interdisciplinary team, contribute to evaluations, and prepare comprehensive reports while supporting Perkins' commitment to inclusion and professional development.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences & Disorders, or equivalent.
• Experience working with students with visual impairments and multiple disabilities.
• Ability to complete and maintain First Aid and CPR/AED, and Safety Care Certifications.
• Candidates with AAC modalities experience are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct therapy to students and consultation to the interdisciplinary program team.
• Participates in the SLP evaluation team, performing assessments for students with visual impairments.
• Maintains comprehensive written reports and liaises with medical specialists and staff.
• Monitors mealtime safety related to dysphagia and trains team members accordingly.
• Offers field placement supervision to undergraduate and graduate students when appropriate.

Education

Massachusetts Professional Licensure in Speech & Language Pathology
