Job summary

Optum is seeking a PRN Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) to provide skilled in-home therapy services, supporting functional independence for patients in their own residences. Working under a licensed OT, you’ll implement treatment plans, monitor progress, and document outcomes in accordance with physician orders and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Graduate of ACOTE-accredited OTA program.
• Current license to practice as OTA in the assigned state.
• Eligible to take NBCOT entry-level cert exam.
• Current CPR certification.
• Minimum 1 year OTA experience; less than 1 year requires leadership approval and mentoring.
• Driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled OT interventions per physician-approved plan of care under supervision of an OT.
• Document each visit following AOTA guidelines for clinical records.
• Observe and report patient responses and changes to supervising OT and physician.
• Provide patient/caregiver resources for future ADL/IADL needs.
• Promote wellness through engagement in meaningful occupational activities.
• Demonstrate knowledge of community resources and services.
• Coordinate follow-up care with the admitting care center.
• Stay current with OT trends and documentation practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

ACOTE-accredited occupational therapy assistant program

Current OT assistant license (state)

NBCOT certification eligibility

CPR certification

1+ year OTA experience

Regional leadership approval for <1 year experience
