Job summary

King County Water and Land Resources Division -WA is seeking a Transfer Station Operator to safely operate a range of heavy equipment at multiple King County locations, guiding customers on recycling and material diversion.

The role requires hands-on experience with industrial tools, strong attention to safety, and the ability to work across several transfer stations with varying shifts.

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience operating heavy equipment such as front end loaders, mini excavators, or truck & trailer.
• Experience in customer service within an industrial environment is required.
• Ability to operate hand tools in an industrial setting.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate transfer station equipment including loaders, compactors, backhoe loader, bailers, forklifts, skid steers and yard trucks.
• Educate and direct patrons on recycling and diversion to support environmental goals.
• Assist customers in maneuvering vehicles and using the facility safely to prevent injuries.
• Screen for hazardous materials and take appropriate action when found.
• Maintain the transfer station property and facilities within established boundaries.
