Lautenbach Recycling’s Friday Harbor San Juan Transfer Station seeks an Equipment Operator & Scale House Attendant to manage heavy equipment, assist customers, and support daily operations. This full-time role is based on-site in Friday Harbor with a focus on safety and teamwork.

You will operate machinery, weigh vehicles, transact at the scale house, and help maintain a clean, efficient workplace while providing excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment and machinery.
• Physically able to lift heavy parts and work in a demanding environment.
• Comfortable using computers for scale house operations.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to process and load residential garbage, recycling, and construction & demolition debris.
• Load materials for off-island recycling transport.
• Run the scale house: weigh vehicles, process transactions, data entry.
• Assist customers with a friendly, professional attitude.
• Perform daily safety inspections and basic equipment maintenance.
• Drive large trucks and equipment safely around the facility.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
