Job summary

Service Corporation International is seeking a Transfer Specialist to handle the care, removal, and transport of deceased individuals. The role requires safe operation of company vehicles and compliance with local and state laws, as well as company policies and procedures.

You will cooperate with first responders, hospitals, and funeral professionals, while maintaining a professional appearance and sensitive demeanor when contacting families.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid state driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Willingness to work weekends, nights and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Safely drives company-owned professional vehicles for first-call transfer of deceased.
• Transports caskets to airports, care centers, or funeral homes; assists with moving caskets.
• Maintains vehicle cleanliness and performs routine vehicle maintenance and fueling.
• Enters transfer event information into proprietary software per procedures.
• Interacts with bereaved family members in a courteous, sensitive manner.
• Complies with chain-of-custody, paperwork, and deceased identification processes.

This position will collaborate with other team members as required to ensure processes and procedures remain in compliance. Safely and courteously drive company owned vehicles. Maintains company vehicles cleanliness. Follows processes for chain-of-custody, paperwork, and deceased identificationCooperates with first responders, Coroner, hospital staff, or Senior Living facility and accommodate their processes and proceduresFor home transfers, courteously and professionally interacts with bereaved family members; exhibits sensitivity to environment; minimizes conversation.
