Job summary

Recology in Portland, OR is seeking a Transfer Driver with manual transmission experience to operate our route-ready vehicle under limited supervision. You will perform safety checks, maintain timely service, and uphold excellent customer relations across service areas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of related driving experience, with double/triple, air brake, and/or tanker truck endorsements (two years preferred).
• Valid Class A Commercial driver's license.
• Must have manual transmission experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily routine safety checks and pre-trip inspections on the assigned vehicle.
• Ensures safety measures for operation are consistently applied.
• Operates vehicle in all assigned service areas in a timely and efficient manner.
• Loads materials according to procedures and reports violations to supervisor.
• Ensures hazardous materials are not accepted, as able.
• Maintains compliance with legal load limits for transported materials.
• Reports accidents or safety violations promptly to the appropriate authority.
• Maintains positive customer relations and supports the company's community image.
• Other duties as assigned.

Role of Transfer Driver (Manual Transmission Experience)

Shift: Monday - Friday 3:45am - 1pm (Start/end times vary depending on season)

Under limited supervision, is accountable for the efficient and effective operation of assigned vehicle, the consistent application of safety and operational procedures, and maintenance of good customer relations throughout all applicable service areas.

Essential Responsibilities

• Performs daily routine safety checks, and pre-trip inspections on assigned vehicle.
• Ensures all safety measures appropriate for operation of assigned vehicle are consistently and efficiently applied.
• Operates vehicle in all assigned service areas in a timely and efficient manner.
• Loads all assigned materials according to normal operating procedures and reports any violations to supervisor.
• Ensures hazardous materials are not accepted, as able.
• Assures materials being transported comply within the legal load limits.
• Reports all accidents and/or safety violations to the appropriate authority and in a timely manner.
• Maintains support of good customer relations and positively influences the community's perception of the Company throughout all applicable service areas.
• Other duties as assigned
