Job summary

State Center Community College District's Fresno City College seeks a Counselor for UC Transfer services for a one-year, full-time temporary assignment. The position reports to the Dean of Student Services, Counseling and focuses on transfer counseling, SEPs, and coordination with CSU/UC admissions.

Qualifications

• Master's in counseling or related field
• A valid California Community College Credential
• Equivalency considered if exact degrees not matched

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive counseling for academic, career, personal and life transitions (appointment-based).
• Provide group counseling sessions, orientations, and workshops.
• Assist students in clarifying educational goals and developing SEPs.
• Monitor student progress through electronic data systems.
• Maintain relationships with program and instructional staff, feeder high schools, and community resources.
• Work with diverse student populations to support transfer preparation.
• Serve as liaison to the Counseling Department on transfer services.
• Develop and maintain SEPs and interpret external transcripts.
• Provide counseling on transfer requirements for CSU/UC and independent colleges; review TAG; evaluate transcripts; provide info on financial aid and housing.
• Develop transfer workshops and participate in retention/outreach efforts.
• Maintain relationships with staff and student support units.
• Work with Department Chair on program reviews and counseling leadership tasks.
• Develop reports to monitor transfer services progress.
• Update Counseling transfer center website content.
• Apply advanced counseling methods and tech to support learning and career goals.
• Counsel students on probation or disqualification as needed.
• Conduct intake interviews and use multiple measures for placement decisions.
• Participate in transfer and matriculation activities.
• Engage in outreach on campus and in the community.
• Utilize career assessment tools across services.
• Attend professional seminars/conferences.
• Participate in committees and program assessment.
• Provide services in flexible settings including evenings/weekends/online.
