Madera Community College seeks a Counselor for a part-time faculty pool. The role covers a broad range of counseling services for a diverse student body, including academic, career, transfer, and personal counseling.

Qualifications

• Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling.
• A valid California Community College Credential; or the equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
• Notes: petition for equivalency if degrees do not match exactly.
• Desirable: experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive counseling services including academic, career, personal and life transitions on an appointment basis.
• Lead group counseling sessions, orientations, and workshops.
• Assist students in clarifying goals, selecting courses, and developing SEPs; monitor progress using electronic data systems.
• Maintain relationships with faculty, high schools, and community resources; support diverse student needs.
• Deliver counseling and career education in classes and workshops; participate in retention strategies and student success initiatives.
