Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a Transfer Center Intake Nurse for its Des Moines, IA corporate office. This full-time, onsite role supports providers seeking patient admission, triages transfer requests, and facilitates placement while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications include 2+ years as an hospital RN (ER/ICU), an active RN license (state or compact), and BLS. Strong communication and multitasking are essential in a fast-paced transfer center environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited nursing program.
• 2+ years of hospital RN experience (ER/ICU preferred).
• Active RN license (state or compact).
• BLS certification (obtainable upon hire).

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing triage of provided patient information to identify the providers, clinicians, and staff necessary to support medical conversations and transfers to UPH.
• Assess available information to ensure accurate patient placement and know when to request more details.
• Ensure knowledge and adherence of EMTALA, HIPAA, DNV, CMS and other regulatory requirements.
• Follow policy and workflows regarding patient transfers, placement, and capacity.
