Job description

If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! The Office of Admissions at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Transfer Admissions Counselor. Reporting to the Director of Admissions, expectations include serving as a member of the transfer student recruiting team and working to promote and enroll students in support of enrollment goals and the mission of the University.

The successful candidate will join an all-star team, dedicated to serving students and their families. We celebrate inclusivity and are passionate about recruiting and enrolling a diverse student body.

Responsibilities:
  • Travel: Recruitment travel in New York State, mostly during the fall and spring terms.
  • Recruiting: Identify, recruit, and enroll qualified candidates while demonstrating a strong appreciation for diverse cultures, backgrounds, and experiences. While the primary focus is transfer recruitment, this role may also support first-year recruitment efforts.
  • Event Superstar: Represents Admissions Office at Community Colleges and during on and off campus events, in seeking qualified applicants for admission to the University.
  • Exceptional Connector: Counsel incoming students and their families regarding processes and procedures for admission to the University; extensive outreach efforts to develop awareness of SUNY Oneonta to target audiences; review application files and make admission decisions.
  • Build a Network: Establish and foster relationships with community colleges, counselors, prospective students and families, agencies, and organizations.

Salary: $55,151. SUNY Oneonta is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness qualifying employer. Information on SUNY's comprehensive benefits offerings can be found at https://www.suny.edu/benefits.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability and willingness to travel overnight in New York, including but not limited to Long Island and other NY state metropolitan regions.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends.
  • Valid driver's license.

Additional:

  • Demonstrated effective written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated experience in college admissions or related area within higher education.
  • Previous experience organizing and planning events.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Experience using Slate CRM.
