Job summary

The Transfer Academic Success Coach at the Learning Resource Center (LRC) supports transfer students’ academic skills, transition, persistence, and success at UMass Amherst. This temporary 3-year, benefited position provides holistic coaching, helps navigate campus resources, and coordinates workshops aimed at integrating transfer students into the academic community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience in academic support or related student success roles.
• Commitment to supporting diverse student populations, including first-generation and transfer students.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to remain professional in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with clarity and structure.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with a diverse population.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized, strengths-based academic success coaching to transfer students and develop learning plans.
• Monitor progress, document interactions, and promote persistence and academic success.
• Design and implement transfer-focused workshops and programs.
• Coordinate collaboration with LRC staff and campus partners.
• Travel to community colleges in Massachusetts and neighboring states for outreach.
• Supervise and support peer tutors and peer academic success coaches.
